Aletta C. “Sis” Freeman, 77, of Fayetteville, PA passed away Wednesday morning at 10:52, February 11, 2026 in Mercy House of Chambersburg surrounded by her twin brother, Harry G. Carnahan of Fayetteville, PA and her sister, Patsy C. Frey (Dennis) of Chambersburg, PA. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Gladys (Hornbaker) Carnahan.
Sis is survived by two children, Debra Freeman and Ronald Freeman, Jr. (Tina); three grandchildren, Damion Freeman (Courtney) of Orrstown, PA, Chloe Freeman (Harold Barton) of McConnellsburg, PA, and Dawn Travis (Josh) of Chambersburg; one great-granddaughter just born Nyla.
In addition to her parents, Sis is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Freeman who passed away August 8, 2006 and a grandson Michael Freeman Jr. who passed away in Afghanistan.
Sis had worked at Knouse Foods and Musselman in Chambersburg for 40 plus years and was always active in their yearly lunches. Prior to Knouse Foods, she worked with her parent’s carnival, Scotland Rides Amusements, based out of Fayetteville and traveled the east coast from Florida to Pennsylvania till 1958 when the family became permanent members of Fayetteville, PA. Sis worked part-time at Henicles Market of Caledonia for 20 years. She loved traveling anywhere in the car, shopping for shoes and purses, camping, entertaining visitors, and spending time with her grandchildren.
A Graveside Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 AM, May 2, 2026 in Parklawn’s Memorial Gardens, 3218 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201 with Gary Hornbaker officiating. Following will be a time of fellowship at 12:30 PM at Tall Timbers Park, Inc., 3159 Orrstown Road, Orrstown, PA 17244.
In lieu of flowers and cards, please consider donating to Mercy House of Chambersburg, 730 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to St. Jude Hospital in her name.
