Arlene Morrissey Miller, age 86, of Chambersburg, Pa passed away at the York Hospital on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pa on September 27, 1934, the daughter of J. Lawrence Morrissey and Elizabeth McCready Morrissey. Arlene graduated from Etna High School, received her teaching degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Master’s degree from Shippensburg University. She taught elementary school for 30 years with most of those years at Stevens and Gordy Elementary schools in Chambersburg.

Arlene and Carl loved to travel and visited all fifty states and four continents. Many years were spent traveling in their motorhome. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends and in tournaments. She used her sewing and knitting skills for the family and the Busy Fingers group at Corpus Christi Church. Arlene was a founding board member of Keystone Health Services. A lifetime avid reader, there were books always within her reach. She loved the ocean and for more than fifty years she vacationed at the beach with her family.

Arlene is survived by her husband of 64 years, Carl Ludwig Miller. They have four sons: Scott (Sonja) Miller, Brad (Teresa) Miller, Brian (Lori) Miller, and Reed (Melisha) Miller. Their 8 grandchildren include Clay Miller, Katie Miller (Chandler) Smith, Colton Miller, Mary Alice Miller, Weston Miller, Clark Miller, Maddie Miller, and Abi Miller. Their three great-grandchildren are Hudson, Monroe, and Gwyneth Smith.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, sister Marilyn “Pud” Taylor, and nephew Ted Taylor. Arlene was a beloved aunt to Pud’s sons Tim, Tom, Ted and Todd Taylor. Arlene continued a family reunion of the McCready descendants that started in Pittsburgh, and has survived for more than 25 years in different areas of the state.
