Dr. Norman Curfman

March 19, 1941 — June 28, 2023

Dr. Norman Edward Curfman, 82, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Dr. Curfman was born March 19, 1941, in Chambersburg PA, to William and Margaret (Kramp) Curfman.

He attended Fannett Metal High School in Dry Run, PA, where he graduated in 1959. He was a Hall of Fame Honoree for being the first student in his high school to letter in four sports: Soccer, Baseball, Basketball and Field & Track. His talent and skill for “first base” led him to be scouted by the Baltimore Orioles and Philadelphia Phillies when he was a sophomore in high school.

He furthered his education at Hagerstown Community College in Hagerstown, MD and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic, in Davenport, IA in May 1964. He played college basketball while attending Palmer and was a brother of Pi Kappa Chi Fraternity where he served as fraternity treasurer.

After college, he returned to PA to start his chiropractic practice. While waiting for his state license to practice, he was a house parent at Quincy Orphanage. He grew Curfman Chiropractic to three separate locations and a sports rehabilitation center throughout Franklin County. He retired in 1998.

Dr. Curfman was an avid Atlanta Braves, Pittsburgh Steelers and Nascar fan. In his earlier years he also enjoyed hunting. He had a strong faith in God and loved family dinners.

He is survived by his wife, Carole of Chambersburg, PA; daughters Kristen (m. Gerardo) Juarez of Greencastle, PA and Candace Hayslette of Inwood, WV; as well as stepson Greg Wood of Hedgesville, WV. He has 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Curfman; his mother, Margaret (Kramp) Curfman; and his two brothers Charles and William Curfman, and sister Virginia.

There will be a private ceremony for family and a “Celebration of Life” will be announced later.

The family has requested donations to “The St. Jude Foundation”, in lieu of flowers.
