James Robert Rider

James "Jim" Robert Rider, 65, of Chambersburg, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026 at the Mercy House, Chambersburg. Born July 1, 1960 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Robert B. and Patricia (Mitchell) Rider.

Jim attended school at Chambersburg Area Senior High School. He was an Auto Detailer for many years and ran his own business. He finished his career and retired at Jennings Chevrolet. Jim enjoyed spending time with his son and his dogs. He enjoyed helping people with any project. He was a true handyman. He enjoyed antique vehicles such as his '51 Chevy truck that he remodeled. he loved being active and being creative. He always went the extra mile for those he cared for.

Jim is survived by his son, James R. Shannon, and son-in-law, Ian P. Shannon;  three sisters, Roberta Miller, Teresa Guyer and Marlena Deter; a brother-in-law, Gene Deter; nephew Chris Guyer, and several nieces.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by two brothers-in-law; Donald M. Miller and Rodney H. Guyer.
