Joan W. Morgan

Joan Womble Morgan, 89, of Chambersburg, PA passed away peacefully at the Chambersburg Hospital on Sunday, May 24, 2026. Born December 12, 1936 in Hillsboro, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Thomas William and Bessie (Harward) Womble.

She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1955. Mrs. Morgan was employed by the J.C. Penney Co. for over 50 years before her retirement. Joan also worked at the St. Thomas Library for several years after her retirement.

Joan was an avid reader as well as a huge sports fan, especially UNC, Chapel Hill. She enjoyed shopping, spending time with friends and family in North Carolina as well as spending time with all her great-grandchildren.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Luan Graham of Chambersburg; her granddaughter, Charon Barclay (Ryan)  of Chambersburg, and their children, Keith, Kylee, Keaton and Kaelyn; her grandson Orrin Wells (Delisa) of Lake Meade, PA and their children Jossalyn, Raeleigh and Brianne; Justin Morgan (Julie) of Mebane, NC, and their children, Callie, Attis and Belus as well as Desta Morgan of North Carolina and her child Amelia.  She is also survived by a sister Teresa Hackler (Doug) of Efland, NC as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Thomas Morgan whom she married in April 6, 1957, her son Dennis Thomas Morgan, Her sister Faye Tarlton as well as an infant brother.

Services will be private.
