Paul Edward Faith, 77, of Waynesboro, and formerly of Mercersburg, PA passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2026 peacefully at Mercy House Chambersburg after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Born October 7, 1948 in Hagerstown, MD he was the son of the late Joseph Norris and Erminna Viola (Miller) Faith.

In his youth, Paul and several of his brothers engaged in many outdoor activities together. One of these favorite hobbies would ultimately become his passion for fur trapping. This sport would continue a lifetime, keenly focused on both branches of the Conococheague and Back Creeks along with other local tributaries of the Cumberland Valley.

Paul was a 1966 graduate of James Buchanan Junior & Senior High School in Mercersburg. Promptly after graduating, he would enlist in the United States Army, completing basic training at Fort Bragg. This specialized military experience would lead him through two tours as a Green Beret in Vietnam between the years of 1967-1970. Upon his return stateside, he navigated his way across the United States, and often reminisced about his time exploring California and Texas. After returning home to Pennsylvania, Paul worked briefly for his brother-in-law, Edgar “Junie” Overcash at Stickell’s General Store in Upton before beginning a nearly 30-year career with Grove Worldwide in Shady Grove between the years of 1972 and 2001. He would later go on to work for Volvo, formerly Ingersoll-Rand in Shippensburg, and also obtained his CDL, briefly operating as a long-haul driver for Werner Enterprises.

On October 1, 1976, he married Cassandra “Cassie” (Bakner) Faith. Together, they would later effectuate the greatest form of love by adopting Adam in his infancy in 1982, and Scott, as a toddler in 1989. Both adoptions were earnestly handled by Catholic Charities, Arch Diocese of Harrisburg. Despite being divorced since 2001, Paul and Cassie would remain in regular contact, often centered on the pace of both of their sons. Though not always profoundly displayed, Paul remained persistently concerned for “Cass and the boys.”

He is survived by his sons Adam, wife Casey; his granddaughter Nora, grandson Brenton all of Lemasters, and his son Scott of Chambersburg. Surviving siblings include Althea Rulon, Donna Overcash, Norris “Butch” and his wife Linda (Rockwell), Walter “Woody,” Michael, Thomas and his wife Linda “Miss” (Heinbaugh), Theresa and husband Dennis Knepper, Mary and husband Donald Rice, and Anna and husband Ronald Brindle. Paul leaves behind an abundance of nieces, nephews, and their extended families. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Faith, mother Erminna “Minn,” his brother Marshall, and his sister-in-law, Karen (Ambrose), the late wife of Michael.

Arrangements have been entrusted with Simple Choice Cremation Services of Chambersburg. Online condolences may be expressed at: www.simple-choicecremation.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to Mercy House Chambersburg, 730 Norland Ave, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date, once the concern of deep cold and winter weather has passed.
