Ronald Leroy Sipes

Ronald Leroy “Bear” Sipes, 72, of Greencastle, PA, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Chambers Pointe Nursing Center, Chambersburg. Born July 18, 1952, in McConnellsburg, PA, he was the son of the late Willis Leroy and Elizabeth Helena (Deshong) Sipes.

Ronald graduated from Central Fulton High School in 1970. He then married his wife, Mary. He worked several farm jobs until he started his employment with Grove Brothers Sawmill. He later went to work at Sonny Diamond Sawmill where he suffered an accident and spent four years in recovery. In 1981, he began his employment again with Johnson Controls, formerly Frick Company. He medically retired in 2001.

He loved hunting, fishing, pitching horseshoes, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years Mary (Rosenberry) Sipes; two children, Jeremy Sipes of Greencastle, PA, and Brian Sipes of Altoona, PA; two grandchildren, Alexandra Sipes of Waynesboro, PA, and Zachary Sipes of Bedford, PA; one great-granddaughter, Avalon Sipes of Waynesboro, PA; and two siblings, Elizabeth Gouak (Bob) of Needmore, PA, and Fatha Clark (Eddie) of Breezewood, PA.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey Lee Sipes.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
