Roy Edward George “Ike” Long, 84, of Chambersburg, PA passed away on March 19, 2022 due to complications from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Born May 20, 1937 in Chambersburg he was the son of the late Edward Demirjisu and Margaret (George) Long.

He was a master meat cutter for over 62 years. His butchering career spanned from WD Weavers, Esskay Meats, Martin’s/Giant food stores (where he retired), Truax Meats, and finally finishing his career at Grove’s Custom Meats in St Thomas, PA.

“Ike” as he was known by most, was a Scottish Rite Shriner and a 50 year member of the Masons. He was a recognized Biblical Scholar. He served as a member of the National Guard in Troop F 2d Recon Sqdn 104th armored cavalry (the Governor’s Troop) as a forward observer for 12 years in Chambersburg achieving the rank of SSG.

He is survived by his ex-wife Nancy Kelso; brother Calvin Long; son Roy T. George; daughter-in-law Tannya Teague Darwin George; granddaughters Erin George Lloyd, Arianna George, Madison Darwin; grandsons Tyler George, Logan George, Rylan Parson, McCoy Teague; great-grandsons Brody Lloyd, Colby Lloyd, Zane George; great-granddaughter Mariah George; great-great-grandsons Greyson George, Case George. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by son, D Michael George; daughters Leslie George Parson, Kelly L. George; and granddaughter Samantha George.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by SimpleChoice Cremation Services, Inc.
