Sarah Leona Overcash

Sarah Leona (Fortney) Burdge Overcash, 84, moved on to be with her beloved Jesus, August 8, 2025. She was being taken care of by hospice at her home in Chambersburg and by her daughter Candy Williams. Born November 11, 1940 in East Waterford, PA, she was the daughter of the late Emory and Edith (Fortney) Clouser.

She told many stories of doing farm chores when she was a little girl there. She went on to marry John Samuel Burdge and later Galen Overcash.

She worked 28 years for the Stanley Company in Chambersburg and Home Health Aid for 10 years.

Sarah had faith that could move mountains, loved going to church, and singing praises to God. Her greatest joy was taking care of her "babies," her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She is survived by one sister, Hazel Burdge of East Waterford, PA; daughter, Candy Williams (children Theodore, Devon and Ivy. Ivy’s children Nyashia, Myesia, Kmauri, Naima, Tariq and Irie & Zion); and a son Clint Overcash (wife Stacy and daughter Daniella); two of Galen's children she helped raise, Rod Overcash (children Dakota, Cory, Cayshia and Steven and their collective 10 children), Cheryl Ream (husband Don and children Joel and Kari and their collective 6 children); and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Sarah is preceded in death by seven siblings, Pearl James, Bertha Covert, Emory, Michael, John, and James Clouser.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Christian Life Church, 1400 Warm Spring Road, Chambersburg PA on Saturday, August 30th at 2:00pm.
