Waynesboro

Shirley Francis Sorensen, 84, passed away peacefully in her home on March 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving husband, children, and family.

She was the devoted wife of Allen Conrad Sorensen, whom she married in 1959. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and unwavering commitment.

Shirley graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1959 and went on to work a variety of jobs as a skilled and highly valued secretary. She was known for her strong work ethic, organization, and dedicated in everything she did.

Shirley was a deeply devoted and involved mother. She poured her energy into her family. Sewing Halloween costumes and school play outfits by hand, spending countless hours at swim meets and sport games, baking mountains of her famous Christmas cookies, preparing memorable holiday meals, and making each Christmas magical with thoughtfully chosen gifts. She planned family vacations down to the smallest detail, ensuring every moment was special.

Shirley had a vibrant spirit and endless energy. She loved horses and cherished time spent at the beach. She gave back to her community as a Girl Scout leader and Bible study teacher, touching many lives with her guidance and generosity.

She is survived by her husband, Allen Conrad Sorensen; three children, Margaret (Mark) Pritts, Patricia Sorensen, and Catherine (Glenn) Fudge; her grandchildren, Molly Pillsbury, Megan Pyzik, Michael, Mary Ann, and Matthew Pritts, Hugh, Michelle, Nolan, and Liz Ortner; three grandchildren, Leah Pillsbury, Caroline Pyzik, and Audrey Ortner.

Shirley will be remembered for her warmth, her boundless energy, and the deep love she gave so freely to her family and friends. Her legacy lives on the traditions she created and the lives she enriched.

She was a steady rock in life, offering strength and comfort in ways that quietly filled deeply felt spaces. The biggest thing that we will forever be most grateful for from her is that she taught us of the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Through her actions and example, we saw and felt the unconditional love of our Lord. It is because of her guidance that we live with the security of knowing we will all be together again in eternal heaven.
