Vaughn I. “Vic” Coyle, 82, of Carlisle, PA passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in UPMC Carlisle Hospital. Born February 18, 1943, in Carlisle he was the son of the late Ralph H. and Genevieve A. (Dosh) Coyle.

He served with the United States Army from March 3, 1961, until his honorable discharge March 2, 1964. Vic was a member of the American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles and The Carlisle Club all in Carlisle. He dedicated all his life to the American Legion Post 101, and he so enjoyed helping with the Christmas and Halloween parties for the kids along with the Easter egg hunt every year for those same children. Vic was also a member of Cold Springs Hunter Club. One of his favorite places to be at was the cabin in Cold Springs where he would go hunting and just go up to hang out in the off season. There he taught most of his grandchildren to shoot a rifle and would set up his “marshmallow tree” for them.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Vic was one of the best pool shooters in the Carlisle area. He enjoyed spending time at the shore where he would go crabbing and boating. He also loved to spend time with his daughter and grandchildren at Raystown where they were camping and boating for over 20 years. He enjoyed playing any kind of cards but was always up for a good poker game. He taught his granddaughter how to play chess, and always and I mean always had candy for the grandchildren in his pocket.

Vic is survived by three daughters, Rhonda Johnston (Joseph), Melissa Vose, and Vicki Wagaman (Randy); eight grandchildren, Ashley Tyson (Rich), Amanda Davenport, Adrianna Johnston, Robert Salisbury, Brittany Michael (Shawn), Ryan Salsibury, Megan Wagaman, Macee Wagaman; 14 great-grandchildren, Lily, Katie, and Ben Tyson, Connor, Murphy, and Charley Davenport, Levi and Jaedyn Salisbury, Brooks and Peyson Michael, Brianna and Brylee Salisbury, Rhett and Ryland Staub; and a brother, Herb Coyle (Bonnie). In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Connie Minich and her husband Marshal; a brother, Jay Coyle; and nephew Doug Coyle.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 8, 2025, in the American Legion Post 101, 142 N. Hanover Street, Carlisle, PA 17013. Arrangements are entrusted to SimpleChoice Cremation Services of Chambersburg, PA.
